Cotton ginning season is pretty much over and it's time for me to spend some serious time moving and updating my website. I'm going to be using WordPress to combine the two which you'll be able to access at www.pbdesigns.biz which is now pointed to the new site. Though I'm in the beginning stages of the website, please feel free to stop by, leave a comment. I've been able to transfer most of the blog already and that makes me happy, you'll have something to look at as I continue to build the site and add a small store.

Feel free to comment or make suggestions to the site. I've already found a few things I want to change, as soon as I figure out how to do that. :) I choose not to use Frontpage to build the website as there's a lot I just don't know how to do yet. But I do miss the control I had over how it looked and the ease of changing things like that. Meaning, I don't have as much to learn, but there are still some definite learning to be done.


I'm very excited, I've needed to move and update the website for ages, since our ISP no longer supports

websites.

For a short season, it sure has felt like forever at the Cotton Gin this year. We are almost done, have been ginning slowly this week, waiting for the last three farmers to finish stripping their cotton so we can get it ginned and GO HOME!!! The long 12 hour days, 7 days a week are over, now we are doing a regular 40 week. Those 8 hrs days seem twice as long as the 12 hour days did though because we aren't as busy, as fewer trucks are going across the scale, fewer farmers stopping in as we've finished up with them. My FIL had a heart attack this past weekend too and we've been worried about him. Of course, he got out of the hospital and immediately came right back to the gin. Dear me...now we get to worry some more about him overdoing it. The man had FOUR stints put in his heart on Monday!!!

I've finally had time to scrap at the gin and remembered to take my usb drive with me with what I needed to do a couple of layouts for Tracey.
Her newest kit has just been released and is full of fun papers and elelements.

So much news to share!!!
Have a rare weekend off during ginning season so catching up on laundry, housework, sleep and FUN things like chatting to you all! :)

Let's start by recapping all that has happened the past few weeks since I've been AWOL!

CT'ing for Clever Monkey Graphics!
WOW! It's so much fun, not only to create for her, but networking with other CT members. I'm awed to be included in the talent and am learning tons! I can't share all the layouts I've done for CMG as some of the kits haven't been released yet, but let me share the ones I've done so far:

What a FUN kit! I had a blast with this kit and managed to get two layouts done when I had some downtime. Tracey even took the time to show me how to work my shadows for extra pow and dimension!

OTHER NEWS!!
Last month was the Queen of Scrap event at Scrap Matters! www.scrapmatters.com
There were prices to win, challenges to do,even participation prizes. I was doing pretty good keeping up with things until Ginning Season started, then it all came to a halt! It's all good though because I won several participation prizes that I received about $20 in free product coupons. SM also has a point system for participating in monthly challenges and I was able to get enough earned points for my $6.00 coupon with some left over for the next month of challenges!

I also won a CT spot for Litabells Designs for the following art journal page (she is graciously letting me wait until after Ginning Season before I do this so I have all the time I need to have FUN doing it!) :

And!!!!!!..........Drum Roll Please!!!
I won a spot on the ROYAL COURT as "Royal Novice" for being the newbie who has improved the most! And believe me, that's an honor as I AM a newbie and I've improved tons since I started just a short couple of months ago! The Scrap Matters community voted in the Royal Court and for the honor, I received yet another $20 in free product coupons!!

I think another 10 days to 2 weeks and we should be done with cotton for the year! I'm looking forward to it. Got tired after the first week of no days off so I really welcomed getting our first day off yesterday. Though I spent the day doing laundry, some housework and a trip to the store. Today, we also have a day off and I'm finishing up the laundry and then SLEEPING!!!!

Hey folks! So sorry to be neglecting you, but the cotton has been coming in at the gin like crazy and they've had me running all over, taking tarps to customers, getting parts, etc. I've logged over 1500 miles in the last 2 weeks and personally delivered 250 tarps. (most of the customers come get their own, but I deliver upon request).
Between laundry and sleep, there hasn't been a lot of time left over for anything else. I promise to make it up to you when we are through. Hopefully it's just a couple more weeks.

My First Layout as a CT for Clever Monkey Graphics! Yeah!
This kit was wonderful to work with. Lot's of ellies that have to do with styling and cutting hair! Great papers, ribbons and strings! Lots of Strings! Yeah! I love strings!

Here is what I did with it. It's not a new release so I've also entered into the QOS competition...

Look at all those great patterned papers! I started off using colored photos, but then switched them up to B&W. It made the kit colors even more bright and cheerful, didn't it?

Let's hope she has the patience to get me through my training as a CT. There's a lot to learn but that is all good for me!

Got to scat and go get some shoes for the DH. He went to the foot dr this morning and was given a list of things he needed to help with his hurting feet. I had to snicker when he came home and said the Dr said no more barefoot on the hard cement floors. You think? I've been telling him that for awhile now. Those floors are really hard on the feet!
